For my video analysis, I have chosen Hoodie Allen's music video for his song 'No Interruption' which is featured on his 'All American' album and therefore fits in with the marketing package theme.
- The use of natural lighting throughout the video gives it a very gritty/real quality which fits in with Hoodie's style and is in keeping with the sense of reality that Hoodie tries to promote.
- This video is mainly located in a rundown warehouse car park which again creates a real quality which is contrasted by the strange things happening in the video. When the car begins drifting in the car park, it is clear that this video is not as serious as the location makes it seem.
- There are a variety of shots used in this video to show the different things that are happening. The most creative shot used in this video is the close up of Hoodie and the two women in the back of the car as it is driven aggressively around the car park. This shot is effective because it shows Hoodie as he lip syncs while being thrown around in the back seat.
- Hoodie is lip syncing throughout the entire video but not every shot includes him. However when he is shown to be lip syncing, it is in time with the song.
- Hoodie is the main focus of the video, not just because he is the artist but because the director has tried to base a strange short story around him.
- The constant use of close up steady shots gives the video a structured feeling and shows each person as a different character.
