Research Task 7 - Music Video Analysis 3

For my third analysis I chose the video for The Neighbourhood's song "Sweater Weather". I chose this video because it includes a lot of interesting shots and unique angles that are uncommon in most music videos.

  •  The use of natural lighting is obvious within the video even through the black and white effect. This lighting is effective because it creates a sense of realism.
  • The locations in this video are all every day locations such as an apartment, a residential street and a motorway. These locations support the idea of it being a realistic video.
  • A lot of mid shots of the group are used in the video showing them doing a range of activities. There also a lot of two shots of a male and female, obviously a couple, spending time together in an apartment.
  • The use of lip syncing is subtle and only occurs once throughout the video. This shows that the video is not focused solely on the artists.
  • I like the use of upside down shots which create a strange and unique effect that is not often used in music videos.
